Gothenburg receives Food Trucks with open arms

When I think of fast food, I usually think of burger chains and pizza restaurants. This type of food can be enjoyable once in a while, or for convenience. The Food Truck trend and a broader range of instant meals have now reached Gothenburg, and this is obviously something we greet with open arms, rumbling tummies and curious taste buds.

Spring and flowering Ramson on Kinnekulle

There is no mistaking the warm spring winds. Slowly but surely they push aside the cold winter air, leaving that very familiar feeling we all know, but few of us can describe in words. One day, spring is simply upon us, with the promise of more light and a greener landscape. The birds are twittering optimistically and the buds on the bare, brown trees burst into leaves. To me personally, spring has for the last few years also involved a sense of longing, and of happiness, to yet again be able to step into the magical landscape of Munkängarna, on the mountain of Kinnekulle, where the forest is completely taken over by Ramson at this time of the year. I am ridiculously infatuated with ramson. In the early part of spring it forms a green carpet on the forest floor, towards the end of the flowering season it turns into a white layer that covers the ground like snow. It is wondrous and magical.

International success for Nordic flavours

A few years ago, the Scandinavian cuisine became really hot, when the Danish restaurant Noma found new ways of preparing vegetables, berries, seafood and meat from our region, different from anything we had ever seen before. All of a sudden, gourmets and food journalists from all over the world showed an interest in our Swedish cooking traditions. And other chefs joined the trend and started making room for both tradition and innovative creativity in their kitchens.

Since the mid-1960s, bleak roe has been the main source of income for a group of professional fishermen in the small fishing village of Spiken, on the southern shore of Lake Vänern, outside Lidköping.
